Home
Step 1 – Do not move the deceased. Call an ambulance (999) to inform them of the situation and request proof of life certification.
Step 2 – Inform the funeral provider so they can make their way over to standby for transport.
Step 3 – After the ambulance has provided the certification, the next of kin/custodian can proceed to the nearest police station with the document to file a report.
Step 4 – The funeral provider may transport the deceased after the police have released the Death Registration Report (All original documents, including the original Identification Card of the deceased, will be needed by the funeral provider). It is most convenient to pass all prepared items to the funeral provider at this point.
- The family should contact/discuss with the church to check for a preferred date, based on the church’s schedule and availability for the mass. (The church prefers direct contact with the family.)
- Location and duration of the wake/memorial service (House or funeral parlour)
Step 5 – Embalming will be carried out, and the deceased can be placed in the mortuary cold room if needed.
Step 6 – All documents received will be photocopied for the next of kin; the original Identification Card of the deceased will be surrendered to JPN, the national registry, in order to obtain the Death Certification.
An extract may be obtained personally from JPN by the next of kin with proof of relation.
Hospital
Step 1 – The next of kin/custodian needs to inform the funeral provider.
Step 2 – The next of kin/custodian to contact the church for funeral mass arrangements.
Step 3 – The next of kin/custodian to settle the hospital bill and meet the funeral provider at the Forensics section in the hospital to verify the deceased’s identity and for the funeral provider to transport the deceased to the embalming facilities. It is most convenient to pass all prepared items to the funeral provider at this point.
Step 4 – Embalming will be carried out and the deceased placed in the mortuary cold room if needed.
Step 5 – All documents received will be photocopied for the next of kin; the original Identification Card of the deceased will need to be surrendered to JPN, the national registry, in order to obtain the Death Certification.

- Once funeral date, time and location has been confirm. On the first day of the Wake/Memorial Service, the funeral provider would place madam in the casket and prepare necessary funeral settings/decoration for setup at the chosen location at residence or funeral parlour
- Usually a staff member will be present from 5pm – 10pm to assist during these peak hours
- Usually daily prayers would be held at 8pm by the next of kin/custodian with the assistance of the local church prayer group.
Funeral Mass
- At the Wake/Memorial service location, a prayer session may be held in the memorial location by family and close friends. Usually about 30mins
- Prior to departure from the wake area, the set-up will be removed.
- Pall bearers will carry the coffin to the hearse, the family can join if they like.
- A Last walk/send off will be performed behind the hearse, usually to the end of the street.
- Mass is held in church and is the only fixed time slot for the day.
Important : It is advised to reach the church at least 15mins before time of the funeral mass. Mass duration estimated 30-45mins
- At the end of mass, the coffin will be placed in front of the church to allow attendees that will attend the crematorium to pay their last respects.
- Procession will leave by car for the crematorium.
Crematorium
- Upon arrival the casket would be carried into the prayer hall
- Rose Stalks would be given out to attendees
- Short prayer would be held
- Followed by the Last Respects
- Cremation begins as the casket gets rolled into the
